SG-1 (Stargate unit one) is the flagship unit of Stargate Command. SG-1 is a multi-tasked unit, with a variety of duties, including first contact, reconnaissance and combat, diplomacy, initial archaeological surveying and technological assessment. SG-1's original team consists of Captain Samantha Carter, Doctor Daniel Jackson, Teal'c and Colonel Jack O'Neill as commanding officer. Its history is the subject of the television series, Stargate SG-1.
