Seventh Sojourn
Seventh Sojourn, released in 1972, was the seventh album released by the Moody Blues. The group broke up after the album's release, but reformed in 1978 to record Octave. On Seventh Sojourn, the Moody Blues replaced the Mellotron with a keyboard called the Chamberlain (a.k.a. an electronic Mellotron). As was the case with previous Moodies albums, the strongest tracks were Justin Hayward compositions, especially the astonishing "You and Me", while "New Horizons" and "Land of Make Believe" also stand out. Bassist John Lodge contributed the two major hits, "Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band" and "Isn't Life Strange". Overall, this effort was probably the Moodies' most consistent and least pretentious. The album's sonic experience improved greatly from a recent remastering.
