Sestre


 
 

Sestre (which means Sisters in Slovenian) is a Slovenian band of transvestites. Their nicknames are Daphne, Emperatrizz and Miss Marlena. Before their victory in EMA 2002 they had appeared in Slovenia for several years under the name Strumpantl Sisters. Daphne studies agriculture and dances in the Ljubljana Dance Theatre. Miss Marlena is also a student, Emperatrizz is a stylist and make up expert. She was 2nd in the European Transvestite Contest in 1997.

They won EMA 2002, the national preselections for the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 in Tallinn. Although singer Karmen Stavec was the favourite in the televoting, the expert jury selected Sestre. In Tallinn they were 13th.
