A season finale is the final episode of a season of a television program.

Frequently a season finale will contain cliffhangers to be resolved in the next season (' usually did this, and the finale of the first season of Twin Peaks is an extreme example). Other times a season finale will wrap up the season's open-ended storylines and bring them to a close.
