Seals and Crofts
Seals and Crofts are Jim Seals (October 17, 1941) and Dash Crofts (August 14, 1940), a popular soft rock duo in the early 1970s, best-known for their hit "Summer Breeze". Both born in Texas, they first met in a band called Dean Beard and the Crew Cuts, where Seals played guitar and Crofts played drums. With Beard, they moved to Los Angeles to join The Champs. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In 1965, Crofts returned to Texas. When Seals jointed The Dawnbreakers, Crofts returned to California to join him. Crofts married. In 1969 both Seals and Crofts converted to the Baha'i faith. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ After the Dawnbreakers, the two played as a duo, with Seals on guitar, sax and violin, and Crofts on guitar and mandolin. Their second album, "Down Home", with Talent Associates, charted and they moved to Warner Brothers Records. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ After a long and successful run of recording in the seventies, the two lost their contract and set aside music for a while. They held a short reunion tour in 1991-2. Crofts moved around, Mexico, Australia and then Nashville, playing country and making occasional hit singles. Seals moved to Costa Rica. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In 2003, the pair united and recorded the first new material together in more than twenty years. They toured in 2004-5. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
