Sea of Reeds
The Sea of Reeds is the body of water which the Hebrews crossed in the Book of Exodus while fleeing the Egyptians. The passages referring to the Sea of Reeds were mistranslated centuries ago when the Torah (Five Books of Moses) was translated into Greek. The mistranslation came out to state the Hebrews had crossed the Red Sea between Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula. The myth continues with pop-culture references to the crossing in classic movies such as The Ten Commandments.

The Sea of Reeds was either a lake or a river which is now dried up compared to when it was filled with water 3,200 years ago. The Sea of Reeds was likely one of the tributaries to the Nile, and not the Nile itself. Its location was somewhere west of the modern-day Suez Canal.
