Scottish Colourists


 

The Scottish Colourists were a group of painters from Scotland whose work was not very highly regarded when it was first exhibited in the 1920s and 1930s, but which in the late 20th Century came to have a formative influence on contemporary Scottish art. F. C. B. Cadell, S. J. Peploe, Leslie Hunter, and J. D. Fergusson are the artists traditionally grouped under this name. Their work is featured in several galleries across the United Kingdom, including: the Aberdeen Art Gallery in Aberdeen, Scotland; the J. D. Fergusson Gallery in Perth, Scotland; the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh; and the Portland Gallery in London.
