Scooby-Doo (character)

Scooby-Doo is a fictional character in the American television animated series Scooby-Doo, about the adventures of four crime-solving teenagers. Scooby-Doo is a Great Dane belonging to the character Norville "Shaggy" Rogers. Scooby-Doo and Shaggy have several personality traits in common, including tremendous appetites and tendencies towards cowardice. Due to said cowardice, Scooby would often have to be bribed by Shaggy's cohorts (Velma, Daphne and Fred) to go after the villains with "Scooby Snacks," a biscuit-like dog treat.

Trivia

• The voice for Scooby-Doo in the TV series was initially provided by Don Messick; following his retirement in 1996, Scott Innes and later Frank Welker took over.
• In the two live-action Scooby-Doo movies, computer-generated imagery was used to portray Scooby-Doo.
• The "dog-treat/Scooby Snack" gag had been used before in several Hanna-Barbara cartoons, including Dastardly and Muttley.
