Schwechat


 
 

Schwechat is a city on the south-eastern outskirts of the Austrian capital Vienna. It is mostly known for housing the city's airport and for a beer brand local to the city carrying its name. It is also home to the refineries belonging to the Austrian national oil company OMV.

Schwechat is named after the river Schwechat, which flows through the center of town. The city lies in the federal state of Lower Austria and is located at . The city is split into four subsections, called cadastral communities - Kledering, Mannsw?rth, Rannersdorf and Schwechat. The city boundraries span around an area of 44.7 km?. It lies at 162 metres over the sea level.
