School District of Philadelphia
The School District of Philadelphia is a school district based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The district covers all of the city of Philadelphia. Over 217,405 students attend the district's 273 schools. It is the seventh largest district in the nation. In an effort to increase school efficacy, the City privatized the district in the early 21st century, handing control over to Edison Schools company. The current CEO is Paul Vallas.
