Schola cantorum
Schola Cantorum founded in 1894 in France by Vincent d'Indy, was devoted to early music, and was an alternative to the Paris Conservatoire. It was noted for its emphasis on the study of counterpoint and complex formal strategies of composition. Erik Satie was one of its students.
