Saxons of Romania
The Saxons of Romania are a German-speaking ethnic group in Transylvania, Romania; it was almost destroyed after World War 2 due to forced mass deportations to labour camps by Soviets for alleged cooperation with Germany and due to emmigration to Germany later. They reffered to their homeland as "Siebenbürgen", meaning "Seven cities", as there were seven major cities in the area. Saxon architecture still remains evident there (such as massive walled Lutheran churches).
