In Hinduism, Savitri (also Savitr, Savitar) is a solar deity and one of the Adityas.

The philosopher-sage Sri Aurobindo wrote a 24,000 line poem on the Savitri story, in which he described the involution and evolution of the cosmos and of consciousness.
