Savannah State's colors are blue and orange and their nickname is the Tigers. Savannah State sports teams participate in NCAA Division I (I-AA for football) and are independent. In the 2004-05 season, the Savannah State men's basketball team achieved the dubious honor of being only the second Division I school since 1955 to go through the entire regular season without winning one game. The 0-28 campaign earned considerable attention in the sports media, being featured in a "Winless Watch" on Sportscenter that recounted each loss throughout the year.
