Satellite Records
Satellite Records was started by Jim Stewart in October 1957. In 1958 Estelle Axton invested in the young record label.

In 1960 they signed a 5 year distribution deal with Atlantic Records. After discovering that another Satellite Records existed in California, they renamed their enterprise Stax Records by combining the 2 first letters from each of their last names.
