Sanford Robinson Gifford
Sanford Robinson Gifford (1823-1880) was an American landscape painter. He was a member of the Hudson River School. Although he produced many pictures of American landscapes, chiefly of New England, in the 1860s and 1870s he travelled in Europe and North Africa and many of his canvases are depictions of well known sites in those areas. Pictures of his hang in leading museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
