Same-sex union

Same-sex union can refer to:

• same-sex marriage -- the civil or religious rites of marriage that make it equivalent to opposite-sex marriages in all aspects.
• civil union -- the civil rights that provide a civil equivalent to traditional marriages without calling them "marriages"
• registered partnership - a relationship (usually same-sex) that is recognized by the state as a civil union
• domestic partnership - a same-sex relationship that is not recognized by the state as a civil union
• Blessing of same sex unions -- the religious rites of blessing the love/commitment/etc between two individuals who are of the same gender, without necessarily blessing sexual activity between these people.
