Sam Webb
Sam Webb is the current national chairman of the Communist Party USA, a position to which he was elected at the 27th National Convention held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2001.

His public positions have been relatively uncritical of the principles of American government (e.g. democracy, checks and balances, and so forth), but rather the current institutions and class structure thereof. This is consistent with the general policies of the CPUSA.

He either had a hand in making or acceded to the CPUSA decision to support the Democratic Party in the 2004 presidential election; this marks a dramatic shift from usual party policy, which commonly treats both major parties as interchangably capitalist. It is not known whether this policy will continue after the election, or in any case in the event of a Republican defeat.
