Sam Elliott

Sam Elliott (born Samuel Pack Elliott on August 9, 1944 in Sacramento, California) is an American actor of motion pictures and television.

He is usually recognizable by his tall, thin roughhewn physique, his gruff speaking voice, and by his thick handlebar moustache. His appearance made him a natural in mostly adventure roles and in Westerns.

He began his career as an actor onstage. His first movie appearance was as a card player in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). On the set, he met a co-star who would become his future wife, actress Katharine Ross. Elliott and Ross were married in 1984.
