The school's mascot is the Cardinal (bird variety). As a Division III school, the sports program has been highly successful. In 1999, the SJFC Softball team became the first softball team in New York State History to win both the State Tournament and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship. Their 39-11 mark was good for the 6th highest winning percentage in the country. The men's and women's basketball teams have also been highly successful in recent years.
