Sabina Guzzanti


 

An Italian actress devoted to comedy and satire, Sabina Guzzanti was born on July 25, 1962 in Rome, where she graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts. Guzzanti is the eldest daughter of celebrated Italian political commentator and journalist Paolo Guzzanti and sister of Corrado Guzzanti, a comic known for parody and imitation, which whom she formed a comedy act. Guzzanti's television career took off beginning in 1988 when she cameoed in several TV comedy shows. She is well-know for her imitations of porn stars and politicians, including Silvio Berlusconi. Her TV success prompted Italian film director Giuseppe Bertolucci to recruit her to star in his film, I Cammelli.

In November 2003 Sabina Guzzanti wrote, directed and was featured in the first and only installment of "R(a)iot", a late-night TV political satire show broadcast on RAI-3. After lampooning Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi, Guzzani was sued by Silvio Berlusconi's Mediaset lawyers for "lies and insinuation" and the show was pulled amid controversy.
