Russ Gibb
Russ Gibb has worn many hats in his time. He is probably most famous as the DJ who served as catalyst for the Paul is dead phenomenon. He owned and operated the Grande Ballroom in Detroit, a fondly-remembered music venue, and was largely responsible for giving the MC5 and Iggy Pop their start. As publisher of Cream magazine, he employed the young Cameron Crowe; this led to his employment with Rolling Stone Magazine. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Gibb taught video and media production at the high school level for many years. Since the Grande Ballroom and his management of various musical acts left him a millionaire, he taught (presumably) for altruistic reasons. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ One student that learned his craft under Gibb was Tom DeCerchio, creator of the famed frogs and director of the box-office bomb Celtic Pride. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Gibb retired from teaching in 2004. He is sometimes known as the Gibbster, and his students as "Gibblets". He presently runs a current events website with a conservative alignment, Russ Gibb @ Random. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Paul is dead: The Paul Is Dead rumour started with a series of events in the 1960s that led fans of the popular rock band The Beatles to believe that bassist Paul McCartney was actually dead and replaced with a look-alike in 1966. McCartney remains alive, as of 2005.... Iggy Pop: Iggy Pop (born James Newell Osterberg, Jr. on April 21, 1947 in Muskegon, Michigan) is an American punk rock singer and occasional actor. Although he has had only limited commercial success, Pop is considered one of the most important innovators of punk rock and related styles.... Cameron Crowe: Cameron Crowe (born July 13, 1957) is an American writer and film director.
