Rugby (borough)
Rugby is a local government district with borough status in eastern Warwickshire, England.

The district is named after its main town of Rugby where the council has its headquarters, but also includes the rural areas surrounding the town.

The town of Rugby had the status of a municipal borough since 1932. The present borough was created on 1 April 1974 when the Rugby municipal borough was merged with the Rugby Rural District. Prior to 1974 the town and rural district had separate councils, both based in Rugby.

Roughly 89,000 people live in the Rugby borough. of those roughly 63,000 live in the town of Rugby, and the remaining 26,000 live in the rural areas around the town.

The borough stretches from Coventry to the west, to the borders with Northamptonshire and Leicestershire to the east. It borders the Warwickshire districts of Warwick to the south-west, Stratford to the south, and Nuneaton and Bedworth to the north-west.
