Royal Grammar School, Newcastle
Royal Grammar School, Newcastle (RGS locally, though there are other schools and organisations with the initials RGS) is a long-established independent school in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. It is thought to have been founded in 1545, by Thomas Horsley, and has been on six sites in the area. It has been located on its current site in Jesmond since 1906. It is noted for its all-round excellence in the North East both academically and in sport.

The RGS is currently co-educational only for the sixth form, and entirely male for the rest. Girls will be admitted into the rest of the school from 2006.
