Rotherhithe tube station

Rotherhithe is a London Underground station in Rotherhithe. It is on the East London Line, between Wapping and Canada Water, and is in Zone 2.

It has two platforms (northbound and southbound) and is accessed by two escalators (one up, one down) and a flight of stairs. There is no lift.

It is at the southern end of the Brunels' Thames Tunnel and some of the original brickwork can be seen from the north ends of the platforms.

Due to the extension of the East London line, and the consequent use of longer trains, it was thought that Rotherhithe station might have had to have closed when the line was extended; however on 16 August 2004 the Mayor of London announced that the station will stay open http://www.tfl.gov.uk/rail/initiatives/ell-stations.shtml.
