Rostov Oblast
Rostov Oblast (??????????? ???????? in Russian) is an oblast, a regional subdivision, of the Southern Federal District of Russia. Rostov Oblast lies in the south of Russia with an area of 100,800 kmē and a population of 4,404,013 (2002 census) making it the 5th most populous oblast in Russia. Its administrative center is the city of Rostov on Don, which also became the capital of the Southern Federal District in 2002.
