Before entering law school in the mid-1980s, Ron served as a legislative assistant in two Congressional offices on Capitol Hill. He began his political consulting career when his mother Sue Gunzburger first ran for Hollywood, Florida, City Commissioner in 1982 (she won that race and every race since then). Sue Gunzburger (D) is also the same person who earned national attention for her prominent role in the 2000 Presidential recount as the Broward County Commission Chair who served on the Broward County Election Canvassing Board.

A trial attorney since 1988, Ron has previously served as an Assistant Public Defender, an Assistant Attorney General of Florida (RICO Unit, Economic Crimes Division), and as a litigation partner in a large national law firm. Gunzburger was a candidate for Broward County Judge in 1994, losing in the run-off (45% - 149,000 votes). He was again a candidate in 2002, challenging an incumbent Circuit Court Judge in the 17th Judicial Circuit (Broward County) of Florida -- in a county where no incumbent circuit judge had lost a race for re-election in over 60 years -- but missed qualifying for the run-off by a 2% margin. He is currently General Counsel and Director of Administration for Broward County Property Appraiser Lori Parrish.
