Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, Bowen was perhaps best known for his role as Lt. Col Henry Braymore Blake in the 1970 cult classic film M*A*S*H. He costarred in the TV sitcom Arnie, made numerous other film and television appearances, and did extensive work in TV and radio commercials. In addition to acting, Bowen enjoyed a career as a writer, penning sketches for The Second City comedy troupe (which he co-founded) and authoring several novels.
