~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Rogaland is a coastal region with fjords, beaches and islands, the most important island being Karm?y. Boknafjorden is the largest bay, with many fjords branching off from it. The inner, fjord-rich part of the county is called Ryfylke; the landscape to the north of Boknafjorden, around the city of Haugesund, is called Haugalandet; and to the south of Boknafjorden, from the cities of Stavanger and Sandnes, the flat, agricultural plain of J?ren stretches down to a bit north of the city of Egersund. The extreme south of the county is made up of the rocky hill landscape called Dalane.
