Rochester, Pennsylvania
Rochester is a borough in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, 25 miles (40 km) northwest of Pittsburgh at the confluence of the Beaver and Ohio Rivers. It is situated in a district which formerly produced gas, oil, coal, fire clay, and building stone. In the past, the manufactures included glass (tumblers, cut glass, bottles), structural steel, pottery, brick, stoves, flour, and lumber products. In 1900, 4,688 people lived here, in 1910, 5,903 people lived here; in 1940, 7,441 people lived here; but as of the 2000 census, the borough had a population of only 4,014 people.
