Nick Tahou Hots, creator of the world-famous garbage plate, also calls Rochester home. One food that Rochester is proud to call it's own is the famous "white hot," made by the local Zweigle company. They can be found at any of the 4 locations of the local franchise named Schallers. Like Schallers, most of the stores and restaurants that Rochesterians go to are products of local franchises. The area takes the most pride in the Wegmans Grocery store chain, which now has locations throughout the Northeast and Northern Virginia, and was recently rated the best company in America to work for by Forbes Magazine. Other local franchises include: Bill Grays (a summertime hamburger hotdog joint that lays claim to having "The world's Greatest Cheeseburger"), the previously mentioned Schallers, Chase-Pitkin Home Improvement stores (which has locations throughout Upstate New York, but announced on October 4, 2005 all would close over the coming year), and Abbotts Frozen custard, which locals will tell you is the best frozen treat on the planet.
