At the beginning of his career with the Austrian national library, Haas was mostly interested in Baroque and Classical music. Later on, he worked on a complete edition of Anton Bruckner's Symphonies and Masses based on the original manuscripts bequeathed by the composer to the Vienna library. Even with the dismissal of inauthentic versions, there are several versions of Bruckner's Symphonies, a problem which in two cases Haas dealt with by arbitrarily combining passages from both versions. Decades later, Leopold Nowak put out completely new editions of Bruckner's music.
