Rob Mills


 

Rob Mills or Millsy (born June 1982- ) is an Australian pop singer.

Born in Melbourne, Mills decided to pursue a career in pop music at the age of 17. He formed the Megamen with two friends and soon developed a keen following on the Melbourne live music scene especially their sessions every Sunday at the Red Eagle Hotel at Albert Park.

Rob Mills unsuccessfully auditioned for the second series of Popstars in 2001. However, his audition for the first series of Australian Idol was successful and he made the top five. He performed on "Rise Up" the #1 Australian single performed by all the Australian Idol finalists in 2003. Mills performed the song "Dirty Girl" on the double platinum album ' soundtrack released in October 2003.

Mills had a brief but highly publicised tryst with celebrity heiress Paris Hilton at the Melbourne Cup of 2003. He signed a contract with BMG in 2004. His first album Up All Night was released in Australia on June 14, 2004 and debuted in the top 40. The first single from the album "Ms Vanity" was released on May 31 in Australia and debuted at #6 in the Australian singles charts. It is a little known fact, but the song "Ms Vanity" was actually about himself, and so was the song "Overrated".

In November 2004, it was noted that one of Mills' CDs was being sold for 40 cents at various Sanity stores, making it cheaper to buy the album than to vote for Mills on the television show.

During Triple M's Tsunami Fundraiser, where people pledged money to hear their favourite song played, Mills rang up and requested his own song. There was much outrage at Mills and he was the butt of many jokes which was the same as when his record was sold for 40 cents.

Mills' music career currently lies in the balance.

However, he recently started hosting Stooged on Channel 10. Stooged is a hidden-camera show where contestants must prove to their closest friends they have done important and extreme things they have not. The show appears to have been cancelled after only one episode.
