Rob Aston
Rob Aston, also known as Skinhead Rob, is the singer/rapper of the California punk rock/hip hop band Transplants. He has also made many appearances on punk rock songs. Tim Armstrong asked him if he could write some lyrics for some songs that he had. Without hesitation, Rob agreed even though having never sang before and only being a roadie for AFI and Rancid. Tim and Rob started jamming in Tim's basement whenever they found the time. Tim, who played almost all of the instruments on the first album still thought something was missing that is when they enlisted Travis Barker from blink-182 to do the drum tracks, instead of having drum loops as orginially planned and they had an album they were proud of, which was self titled and released in 2002. In 2005 the band came back with Haunted Cities, displaying many different types of music including punk rock, hip-hop, and as Travis Barker described it, "thug-swing jazz." ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
