Richard X, real name Richard Philips, started out as a pioneer of the bootleg craze, releasing limited edition singles under the artist name of Girls On Top between 2001 and 2002. He has now become a successful record producer, producing hit singles for artists including Sugababes, Kelis, Liberty X and Rachel Stevens. He is also known for his remix work for artists including New Order and Depeche Mode. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Girls On TopRichard X productions- Annie - Richard X produced/co-wrote the single "Chewing Gum" (UK #25, September 2004) & "Me Plus One" for Annie's Anniemal album (February 2005). She also provided vocals for the track "Just Friends" from Richard X's Richard X Presents His X-Factor Vol. 1 album in August 2003.
- Ciara - Richard X remixed the single "Goodies" (UK #1, January 2005). His remix featured additional vocals from M.I.A..
- Jarvis Cocker - "Into You" was produced by Richard X for his Richard X Presents His X-Factor Vol. 1 in August 2003. He also featured on the track "Into Yule" which was due to be the b-side to the single release of Javine's "You Used To", but this was cancelled.
- Depeche Mode - Richard X remixed the single "Enjoy the Silence 2004" (UK #7, October 2004) as part of Depeche Mode's Remixes 81 - 04 album (October 2004).
- Alesha Dixon - Richard X is producing tracks for the debut solo album from Alesha Dixon (from Mis-teeq).
- Javine - "You Used To" was written and produced by Richard X and featured on his Richard X Presents His X-Factor Vol. 1 album in August 2003. The track was due to be a single in November 2003, but was cancelled.
- Kelis - "Finest Dreams" (UK #8, August 2003) was produced by Richard X. It was a reworking of SOS Band's "The Finest" with Human League's "Thing that dreams are made of" and released as a single under Richard X featuring Kelis. It also appears on Richard X Presents His X-Factor Vol. 1.
- Liberty X - "Being Nobody" (UK #3, March 2003) was produced by Richard X as a reworking of Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody" with Human League's "Being Boiled". Released as a single under Richard X vs Liberty X, it also appears on Richard X Presents His X-Factor Vol. 1.
- M.I.A. - Richard X was involved in the tracks "10 Dollar" and "Amazon" for the Arular album (April 2005).
- New Order - Richard X remixed "Jetstream" (UK #20, May 2005). There is also a Richard X remix of "Bizarre Love Triangle" that has yet to be released.
- Nine Inch Nails - Richard X remixed the single "Only" (UK #20, July 2005).
- Sugababes - "Freak Like Me" (UK #1, May 2002) was a reworking of Girls On Top's "We Don't Give A Damn About Our Friends". Released as a Sugababes single to promote their Angels With Dirty Faces album, it also appears on Richard X Presents His X-Factor Vol. 1.
- Gwen Stefani - Richard X remixed the single "Cool" (UK #11, September 2005).
- Rachel Stevens - "Some Girls" (UK #2, June 2004) was written and produced by Richard X. The single was released with profits going to BBC Sport Relief. Richard X has also written and produced "Crazy Boys" for Rachel Stevens' forthcoming album Come And Get It (due October 2005).
- Tiga - Richard X remixed the single "Hot in Herre" (UK #46, September 2003) and produced/co-wrote "Burning Down". Both projects were done under the alias of Gareth Gatex which is taken from 2002 Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates' name. On his website, Richard X now calls his use of that alias as "ill advised and confusing". Tiga also provided vocals for "You (Better Let Me Love You X 4) Tonight" for the album Richard X Presents His X-Factor Vol. 1 in August 2003.
- TLC - Richard X remixed the single "Hands Up" (June 2003).
- Caron Wheeler - "Lonely" was produced by Richard X and featured on his Richard X Presents His X-Factor Vol. 1 album in August 2003.
- Yazoo - A remix of "Situation" by Richard X is due to released in October 2005.
