Richard Pococke
Richard Pococke (1704-1765) was an English prelate and anthropologist.

Pococke was born in Southampton and educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, receiving a Bachelor of Law degree. Preferring travelling to preaching in England, he travelled extensively, particularly in Egypt from 1737 to 1741. He published a two-volumed account of his journey. He also published works about England, Scotland and Wales.

Later Pococke was promoted to Bishop of Meath.
