Neuhaus converted to Catholicism in 1990 and was ordained a priest. He is a prominent orthodox Catholic figure, well known in Catholic circles both in the United States and Canada as well as in the Vatican. He was prominent as a commentator from Rome for the Catholic network EWTN during the final illness and death of Pope John Paul II and the election of Pope Benedict XVI.
