Rich Fields

Rich Fields (born November 30, 1960, in Bay Village, Ohio), is an Emmy award winning broadcaster and is the current announcer of the American television game show The Price is Right. He is a 26 year veteran of both radio and television. In addition to appearing on both the daytime and nightime versions of Price, Fields has also made appearances on many other television shows like, Extra, Inside Edition with Deborah Norville, and The Insider with Pat O'Brian.

Fields was raised in Avon, Ohio, before moving to Clearwater, Florida, in 1976. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1983 with a degree in broadcasting and had a long career as a succesful radio personality in cities like Denver, Tampa and a ten year stint at CBS-FM in Los Angeles. Fields is a well-known voice-over talent and has done hundreds of television and radio commercials. In the mid to late 1990s Rich won the role as the announcer for the Florida Lottery's Flamingo Fortune lottery T.V. game show.

In early 2000, (at the age of 40), Fields returned to college in order to become a television weatherman. After an internship at WFLA-TV in Tampa, Florida Rich was offered the morning weather position at CBS affiliate (KPSP) TV in Palm Springs, California. After just a few short months, Fields was promoted to Chief Meteorologist for CBS-2. He held that position from August of 2002 to May of 2004.

In March of 2004 Fields auditioned for the announcing role on The Price is Right that was vacated by the death of Rod Roddy. He was named the show's permanent announcer on April 4, 2004, and host Bob Barker introduced him to the show's viewers on the April 27 episode. On his website, Fields notes that the inspiration to his broadcasting career came from listening to original TPiR announcer Johnny Olson while growing up outside of Cleveland, Ohio.
