The family Rhynchocinetidae are a group of small, reclusive red-and-white shrimps. This family typically has an upward-hinged foldable rostrum, hence its taxon name Rhynchocinetidae, which means movable beak. The common name dancing shrimps comes from the fact that these species seem to be dancing when they move. Other common names include hingebeak shrimps.
