Respirator
A respirator is a breathing aid often used by intensive care units for the mechanical ventilation patients with respiratory failure. Not exclusively for hospital use, respirators are used at home by patients with spinal cord injury and various muscle disorders (e.g. Duchenne muscular dystrophy).
