- A rebound, in some sports, is the retrieval of the ball after a missed shot, especially in basketball and netball. Rebounds are generally considered to have a major part in the game, as in some situations they can lead to turnovers. In basketball, rebounds are divided into two categories: offensive rebounds, in which the ball does not change possession, and defensive rebounds, in which the ball does change possession. Generally, most rebounds are defensive because the team on defense tends to be in better position to recover rebounds.
- Rebound is also a term for a new boyfriend or girlfriend as a reaction to a recent breakup
- Rebound is also a fast paced table-top game.
