Bec accepted engagement to the former World No. One Australian professional tennis player Lleyton Hewitt in early 2005, after dating each other for just six weeks. On 5 May 2005, it was announced that Bec and Lleyton were expecting their first child; the baby is due to be born in October. Her marriage to Lleyton on 21 July 2005 was shrouded in secrecy, including reports that guests were not permitted to take or utilise cameras (or mobile phones with camera capabilities) during the event, as well as being required to sign confidentiality agreements regarding the details. Despite this, much media attention was given to the event on the day, as it was held at the very public, and rumoured venue, of the world famous icon, Sydney Opera House, followed by a reception at Taronga Zoo.
