Realtek

Realtek Semiconductor Corp., a company located in the Hsinchu Science Park, was founded in October 1987. Although Realtek is not a widely recognised consumer brand, in 2003 they achieved a global market share of 50% in AC'97 audio codecs, primarily for the integrated OEM on-board audio market segment. Presently the 850 is a particular OEM favorite, offering a low price, and a basic feature set.

They are also a major manufacturer of 10/100M Ethernet controllers, with a global market share of 70% in 2003. Again, price is the main selling point, rather than performance.
