Reagan Democrat
The term Reagan Democrat refers to an American political phenomena of 1980s, in which traditionally Democratic party supporting voters, such as Southerners and blue-collar workers, switched their support to U.S. Republican President Ronald Reagan. Although this trend was popularly identified by political scientists and commentators during the Presidential elections of 1980 and 1984, it was a political realignment that had been developing in form since the election of 1948.
