Raymond E. Feist
Raymond E. Feist (born 1945, Los Angeles, California) is an American author, mostly specialising in fantasy fiction. He was raised in Southern California. In his books Feist describes the fictional worlds of Midkemia and Kelewan. Midkemia was once created as an alternative for the Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) role-playing games. When Feist studied at the University of California, San Diego, he and his friends created a new role-playing game based on the world of Midkemia. They called themselves the Thursdaynighters, because they played the Midkemia role-playing game every thursday evening. When the group was expanded, they played on fridays. So they called themselves the Fridaynighters. He gratuated as a B.A. in Communication Arts with Honors in 1977.

During 1977 Feist had some ideas for a novel about a boy who would be a magician. In 1979 Feist wrote the novel. Finally the book was first published in 1982 by the publishing company Doubleday.

Nowadays Feist lives in San Diego with his children, where he collects fine wine, DVD's, and books on a variety of topics of personal insterest, wine, biographies, history, especially the history of American Professional Football.
