~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He started his career at Raidi? na Gaeltachta and in 1988 moved to RT?, with a now infamous broadcast for Jo Maxi from a skatepark, in which he made a desperate attempt to fit in, by using the terms rad and cool repeatedly. He was, however, retained as a presenter, and later replaced Ian Dempsey as the presenter of The Den, RT?'s flagship children's television series. He also presented the secondary school quiz show Blackboard Jungle at the time, and later moved onto presenting 2Phat, a yoof music quiz. In addition, he presented the UTV and RT? collaborative travel show, Bon Voyage!, for one season. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In the late 1990s, when Ireland's economy strengthened and the media marketplace expanded, he moved to 100-102 Today FM, where he now presents the mid-morning show, from 9 AM to 12 PM. This show commands among the highest advertising spot rates on the channel, despite its relatively dead-zone timing. This may be due to its cult status, and its popular Friday morning segment, called "Fix-It Friday", where he and his assistant Jenny Kelly try to find out the answer to any question the listenership throw at them. In 2005, he won, by public vote, the Best Irish Radio DJ award at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He continues to work for RT? television, presenting You're A Star, the talent contest to find Ireland's entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest, and hosted the 2005 Rose of Tralee festival. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ For a time he was engaged to Geri Maye, the presenter of the morning show on The Den. He is currently going out with Jenny Kelly. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
