In August 2005, a spokesperson for Daniels told the New York Post that New York Republican Party chairman Steven Minarik was "actively working" to block Daniels from getting the gubernatorial nomination: Nobody understands what Steve Minarik's problem is with Randy Daniels. Minarik responded that the charges were "outrageous and offensive" and reported that his problems with Daniels were lack of name recognition and money.
