Rainis

Rainis (sometimes referred to as J?nis Rainis) was the pseudonym of J?nis Pliek??ns (b. September 11, 1865 - d. September 12, 1929), a poet, playwright, translator, and politician who is considered to be the greatest Latvian writer. He was married to Aspazija (pseudonym of Elza Pliek??ne, born Rozenberga), another Latvian poet and playwright. Rainis' works among others include Uguns un nakts (1905), Indulis un ?rija (1911).
