Radio London

There have been two radio stations called Radio London and there is now a third up and running:

• The new Big L Radio London International was opened on Saturday 14th May 2005. Sir Cliff Richard OBE officially opened the studios in Frinton-On-Sea, Essex along with The Cheeky Girls. DJs include Ian Damon (original DJ on the offshore station), Mike Read, Ray Anderson, Roger Davis, Garry Williams, Charlie Davy, Trevor John and Randall Lee Rose. Broadcasters also include Steve Garlick, Bex Marshall, Tony Fox, Ben Gamblin, Todd Slaughter, former Big Brother contestant Becki Seddiki and Barry Everitt. News Director Chris Opperman delivers Radio London's NEWS SERVICE on the half hour during the week. Trevor John and Susie Quinell present the Third Eye, giving psychic readings, while playing a great mix of music.

The station broadcasts on Sky Digital channel 940 and around the world at bigl.co.uk with the phrase "The Heart & Soul Of Rock & Roll". Originally the station also broadcast on 1395AM (215m Medium Wave). However, due to a dispute with the transmission provider this service ceased in September 2005. There are ongoing attempts to restart AM transmissions using another provider, but no firm plans have been made public at the time of writing.

• An advertising funded independent pirate radio station, Wonderful Radio London or Big L, broadcasting on 266 metres reaching most of England from off the Essex coast, 1964 - 1967. Radio London was closed by an act of parliament which made it illegal to supply or advertise on offshore radio stations. Radio London had a modern sound loosely based on the successful American radio stations of the time using radio personalities to introduce popular music and to entertain the listeners.
• A BBC local radio station broadcasting to London and the Home Counties, later relaunched as Greater London Radio (GLR), and subsequently relaunched again as BBC London 94.9.
