Rade

Rade was a former member of the Swiss rap group Sens Unik between 1991 and 1996. Rade started off in 1988 as a beatboxing artist from Lausanne. Sens Unik released its first album Le Vième Sens in 1991. Their second album released in 1992 Les Portes Du Temps contained a number of songs that became hits in Switzerland including "Fiche", "Rira bien qui rira le dernier" and "A Gauche, A Droit".

Their third album Chromatic went gold in both Switzerland and Sweden. This album spawned two hits in "Laisse Toi Aller" and "What I've Got". It deatured a number of other European hip hop artists including MC Solaar.

Their fourth album Tribulations recorded in New York was released in 1996 and featured a number of guest artists. Rade left the band in 1998 after the band completed a headlining tour featuring a headline performance at the Gurten Festival in Bern. However, he contributed to a best of album Panorama 1991-1997 featuring two tracks with popular German rap group Die Fantastischen Vier. One of these tracks became a hit in Germany and Switzerland.

Rade appeared as a guest artist on an album by fellow Swiss rappers Silent Majority. His contribution reflected the adoption of rap music as part of the Swiss musical scene. "Our music is not a pale copy of the United States, Lausanne on the map, rhymin' is the art, part of a global thing."

Since leaving Sens Urik, Rade has worked on multimedia projects. He will record a solo album in 2005.
